UASC Services

Mission

The social care sector continues to explore opportunities to ensure sufficient capacity that enables change and delivers on strategic transformation programmes. Our mission is to provide additional capacity services that ensure needs are met and create effective savings, whilst maintaining service quality.

Vision

It is Flex360's vision to make a positive impact on Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children’s (UASC) services by offering our provision to you. We have a resource of highly experienced, qualified social workers, and a UASC expert who was part of the original pilot UASC Team for the Home Office. Our Head of Children’s Services oversees the quality assurance of our Merton Compliant taskforce that can undertake Age Assessments and comprehensive UASC services throughout the UK.

Team and Practitioner Service Areas:

  • Two Merton Compliant qualified ISW’s will partake in the assessment and all visits. This can be made up of two Flex360 ISW’s or a Flex360 ISW and the client can provide an internal social worker. The assessment is shared with the young person after being quality assured and shared with client. If the assessment is in the young person’s favour, this will be shared virtually with them. If the assessment is not in the young person’s favour, this will be a face-to-face visit.

Flex360 requires a minimum of four weeks to complete the assessment, which includes our QA time before returning the completed assessment to the client. These timescales will be affected if there are issues with providing a face-to-face interpreter/Appropriate Adult (client to source). Please note, if required Flex360 can support in providing Appropriate Adults. Please enquire for further information.

Our Head of Service will also provide supervision and oversight to the ISW’s to ensure assessment timescales are adhered to.

  • Our Associated Practitioner provision of locally based ISW(s) work with UASC young people/person. They work remotely, managing the caseload(s) of the UASC young people in their geographical area.

The ISW(s) would undertake the social work duties on behalf of/alongside the allocated social worker, which can include (but are not limited to):

    • Undertaking statutory visits

    • Supporting the young people to access education and primary health care services.

    • Complete reports for Child in Care Reviews

    • Complete Pathway Plans

    • Focused work to support independence and lifelong links where possible.

    • Progress Care Plans

    • Arrange and attend Personal Education Plan Meetings

    • Attend any other meetings as required.

The ISW will have LAC and UASC experience and could be in place for as long as required.

All work/visits undertaken will have reports written following them, which would be quality assured before being sent to the client for their records.

Supervision and oversight would be provided by the local authority but can also be brought in house to Flex360’s Head of Children’s Services, whichever was preferred.

  • Flex360 are well placed to support you in meeting the needs of children and young people around the UK. This service is inclusive of a quality assured report covering all aspects of the Assessment Framework completed and returned to client. We aim to return all work within 72 hours of allocation.

This service is a cost effective alternative to losing substantive members of your core team (with the associated travel, accommodation and subsistence costs) and ensures statutory timescales are met.

Flex360 have a comprehensive children’s provision. See our service list for additional assessments and bespoke solutions.
