Key highlights:

  • Settling in placement visits for unaccompanied asylum-seeking children

  • Allocating experienced and qualified ISW’s close to the young people, which saved the associated costs of the allocated workers time, travel, accommodation and subsistence

  • Statutory visits both in and out of county

Carmarthenshire County Council
Assessment Service (ad-hoc services)

Carmarthenshire County Council was managing with a notable increase in unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and required support with their young people placed out of county. They were finding their social workers were spending substantial time away from the office travelling to and from placements, which had an impact on their other allocations. A cost analysis was undertaken that highlighted that engaging Flex360 was a logistically and financially viable alternative to sending their own worker and allowed room for the young people to engage with an additional layer of support.
