In July 2023 Flex360 were contracted by Surrey County Council for a 12 month period to assist their Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Team to clear 1000 DoLS referrals from their pending list. The team identified the need to seek additional external support from an organisation that had previous experience and expertise in delivering this service and access to an additional resource of qualified and experienced assessors ( BIAs and Sec.12 Drs). Each assessor was provided an in depth induction which outlined their role and responsibilities, this was also supported with our BIA & MHA assessment toolkit that had been shared with and approved by Surrey County Council. Throughout the contract duration assessors were required to attend group and individual supervision sessions with our Quality Assurance Lead. This gave assessors the opportunity to discuss common themes and best practise and for us to discuss areas for improvement/consideration. Each assessment was checked by our experienced QA team against the assessment tool kit Quality of assessment formed part of our KPIs to ensure it met the agreed expectations and could withstand legal scrutiny.
